Steps To In-Home ABA Therapy

Intake interview

Following an initial contact which is usually made over the phone or by email, the clinical director will set up an in-home Intake Interview to discuss your family’s needs. This provides an opportunity for us to learn about your child or the patient in more detail, as well as discuss any questions or concerns you may have. In this initial meeting, you will have a chance to learn more about ABA and our services and if our practice and specialty will meet your needs.

Assessment

After the Intake Interview, we will assess the client’s skills through observation and testing. The type of assessment conducted will be determined based on the client’s developmental level. This assessment will then be used to create an individualized treatment plan which will be implemented by the registered behavior technicians (RBT) and BCBA.

Treatment Plan

The treatment plan showcases the patient’s goals and their action plans. During the sessions, data will be taken to record progress and identify effective approaches. The patients is reevaluated at the six month mark where new goals can be added and previous goals can be modified or extended as the learner progresses on the mastery of new skills. Included in this plan is parent training, where we set aside time to discuss effective ways to implement the action plans when the patient is not working one on one with a therapist during the day. Through this, we strive for a faster path to mastering goals and objectives as well as generalization of the skills.

In-Home ABA Therapy

In-home ABA therapy is the implementation of a patient’s treatment plan on a one on one basis by the BCBA and RBT in the home setting. The RBT will typically be the primary therapist, with the BCBA overlapping once every one to two weeks, depending on the number of hours the patient is seen. It is ideal to have two + hour sessions three to five times a week depending on the patients’ needs.
